I'm sending out Arduinos (Ohmify is turning 8!)

Hey there,

I started Ohmify to make learning electronics accessible to everyone - no matter your age, background, or profession.

Today, it's been 8 years since I launched Ohmify! And we're celebrating with a cool bonus for new members:

All new members who sign up for a yearly plan before Friday get an Arduino board and a beginner's component kit!

So you'll be getting:

  • 24/7 access to more than 700 electronics lessons (and counting!) to learn electronics - even if you have no previous experience.
  • A friendly community forum where you can ask questions about topics from the courses, get help troubleshooting or planning your projects, or any other electronics-related questions. No question is too basic!
  • An original Arduino UNO board + a beginner's kit with a selection of basic electronic components to get started.
  • Learning Tracks that tell you where to start and where to go next to learn specific skills such as Arduino, basic electronics, soldering, circuit board design, microcontrollers, and more. We'll help you so that you'll never get stuck.
  • Access to our member-only events such as live workshops, project contests, quizzes, and more.
  • Project tutorials to build real things with electronics such as a guitar pedal, a kitchen scale, an analog synthesizer, a marble maze game, an alarm clock, and much more.

The Arduino and the starter component kit ($65 worth of components) will be sent to you free of charge from our warehouse in Reno, Nevada.

This is a limited offer, only valid for new annual members until Friday the 5th of April. So you have to act fast if you want in.

Click here this button to claim your bonuses and join Ohmify today.

Keep On Soldering!

Weekend DIY electronics projects! Talking colorimeter, gamma ray measurement, and more

If you can't see this message properly, view it in your browser. May 3, 2024 | #589    Measure Gamma Rays with a Photodiode: Radiation Detector Using a BPW34 The first device that springs to mind when thinking about measuring radioactivity is the Geiger-Müller tube. However, these counter tubes can be difficult to find and expensive; and, even if you do manage to get hold of one, you will still need to find a way to generate its operating voltage of several hundred volts. It is less well known that even a humble photodiode such as the BPW34 can be used to detect X-rays and gamma radiation.   more...     The Andonstar AD210, an Affordable Digital Microscope with a 10.1" Display The Andonstar AD210 is an entry-level model digital microscope with a large 10.1...

Without this, you won't learn electronics

One thing I'd like to learn (or to become better at) is: The practice of silencing my thoughts for a short period. Also called meditation. What does that have to do with electronics? It reduces stress and makes me more focused on the task at hand. So I can build more circuits, faster . At least in theory. The problem is that I don't practice it. So naturally, I don't get the benefit of it. I recently asked my former meditation teacher for advice. He asked me back: "What's holding you back?" "I don't have enough time," I started typing (this was on Facebook Messenger). Then I deleted it because I realized that I could do it in as little as 5 minutes per day. I tried again: "I don't know what to do." But I had to delete this too because I had all the notes from the class that showed me exactly what to do. Then I tried: "I guess I don't have the motivation?" But again, I realized t...
