Sinewave Inverter with Power Factor Correction

Sinewave Inverter with Power Factor Correction
Power inverters are used to generate AC powerline voltages like 230 VAC or 115 VAC in the field, using high capacity 12-V or 24-V vehicle batteries. They come in a wide variety of output powers (anything between 15 and 1,000 W) and quality of the AC output voltage (anything from abominable to pure sinewave). Some models even have output voltage regulation.

The Fnirsi S1 Multimeter: Smart With Large Display (review)

The Fnirsi S1 is supplied with various accessories.
The Fnirsi S1 multimeter features a large color display and is also smart, meaning that it detects whether a DC voltage, an AC voltage or a resistor is connected to its inputs and automatically shows the corresponding value on the display. It also measures capacitance, diodes, temperature and frequency, it has a built-in contactless voltage detector and an LED light.

Enhancing RC-Oscillators: A Simple Approach to Extending Frequency Control

Enhancing RC-Oscillators: A Simple Approach to Extending Frequency Control
Increase potentiometer frequency control span with a factor of 10 or more by wiring it up differently. This approach can also be used to extend the range of a pulse width/delay control. Example circuits are shown. Advantage compared to standard circuits: The increased span adds lower frequency range without scarifying control resolution at the high end.

May 3, 2024 | #589    Measure Gamma Rays with a Photodiode: Radiation Detector Using a BPW34 The first device that springs to mind when thinking about measuring radioactivity is the Geiger-Müller tube. However, these counter tubes can be difficult to find and expensive; and, even if you do manage to get hold of one, you will still need to find a way to generate its operating voltage of several hundred volts. It is less well known that even a humble photodiode such as the BPW34 can be used to detect X-rays and gamma radiation.   more...     The Andonstar AD210, an Affordable Digital Microscope with a 10.1" Display The Andonstar AD210 is an entry-level model digital microscope with a large 10.1...
