When you are building something with electronics, you need a schematic, or a circuit diagram, to follow.
It's like a recipe for making the circuit work.
You can either design this schematic diagram yourself, or you can find one that someone else has made.
The easiest is of course to use one that someone else has designed.
It saves you a lot of time.
You might not understand it properly, but at least you have a working schematic (hopefully) that you can use to make your circuit.
There are many sites online with thousands of schematics. Skimming through them can be a good plan, but it might also take up a lot of time.
One simple and easy trick that I often use, is to type the circuit I want to make into Google, and then add the word "circuit" at the end. Go to the "Images" section and you will often get a lot of images of schematics for different versions of the circuit you want to make.
Try it out for your next circuit!

PS! Looking for a way to get started with circuits? Here are two ways I can help with that:
- Get started with some simple circuits from my eBook Getting Started with Electronics. These circuits will help you both understand more and they will get you started quickly with building electronics.
- Join Ohmify: Ohmify is for people interested in electronics who want to learn skills like PCB design, soldering, and project-building - while also getting a proper understanding of the basics. We have lots of practice circuits you can try out.
