Toggling my LED using any remote control

In the previous email, I was able to turn an LED on for one second using any remote control. Today, I expanded on that to toggle it instead.

So press any button once - LED turns ON.
Press any button again - LED turns OFF.
Press any button once again - LED turns ON.
...and so on.

The only change from last time is that I added a JK flip flop on the output. If both the J and the K inputs of a JK flip flop are high when the clock pulse comes, it toggles its output.

I didn't have time to solder and make it work with my electronic candle yet, but it's pretty cool just to be able to control an LED with any remote 😎

I'll continue the project in the show & tell section inside of Ohmify (for members only), but for the curious mind, here's the complete schematic:

PS! Whenever you're ready, here are two ways I can help you learn electronics:

  • Join Ohmify: Ohmify is for people interested in electronics who want to learn skills like PCB design, soldering, and project-building - while also getting a proper understanding of the basics.
  • Get the eBook Fun Circuit Experiments with Sound and Light where you'll learn basic electronics through experiments. If you're new to electronics, this is the perfect place to start. The book comes bundled with a component kit for an easy beginning of your journey.

May 3, 2024 | #589    Measure Gamma Rays with a Photodiode: Radiation Detector Using a BPW34 The first device that springs to mind when thinking about measuring radioactivity is the Geiger-Müller tube. However, these counter tubes can be difficult to find and expensive; and, even if you do manage to get hold of one, you will still need to find a way to generate its operating voltage of several hundred volts. It is less well known that even a humble photodiode such as the BPW34 can be used to detect X-rays and gamma radiation.   more...     The Andonstar AD210, an Affordable Digital Microscope with a 10.1" Display The Andonstar AD210 is an entry-level model digital microscope with a large 10.1...
