Making something cool for Halloween does not have to be super complicated. All you need is a couple of LEDs and a cutout of a bat, like Ohmify member Joost's Halloween project:
Here's the project in Joost's own words:
"When I think Halloween, I think BATS!!! This was a short hacking together of bat-shaped plywood and the Ohmify Blinking LED board. I think the back looks scarier than the front due to my Frankenstein Capacitor soldering 😄"
Joost built a basic blinking LED circuit to make the eyes of the bat blink.
(But the circuit could be made even simpler by skipping the blinking part and having the LEDs always on using just a resistor.)
Are you building anything for Halloween this year?
I started working on some Halloween project ideas last week. My daughter is two years old now, and she does not like scary-looking things at all! So I'm going to make something cute/fun/weird instead.
Keep On Soldering!

PS! Whenever you're ready, here are two ways I can help you learn electronics:
- Join Ohmify and learn how Light-Emitting Diodes work and how you can use them in your projects. Learn to flicker or blink LEDs to use as eyes, or to add transistors and "blink" other things like motors or relays. And much more!
- Get the eBook Fun Circuit Experiments with Sound and Light where you'll learn basic electronics through experiments. If you're new to electronics, this is the perfect place to start. The book comes bundled with a component kit for an easy beginning of your journey.
